THRC honours 108 Top Fleet Employers at annual Awards Gala 2025
OTTAWA, ON (October 15, 2025) — Trucking HR Canada brought national leaders together this evening to celebrate the country’s top employers in trucking and logistics at the annual Top Fleet Employers (TFE) awards gala in Toronto this evening. A total of 108 fleets earned TFE recognition, along with four Top Fleet awards and nine Achievements of Excellence.
“The annual TFE Awards Gala brings together the country’s top fleets for a celebration of leading organizations that meet our highest standards of excellence in the workplace,” says Angela Splinter, CEO, Trucking HR Canada. “Each year the number of fleets we recognize grows as more fleets who are focused on making trucking and logistics a career destination of choice seek out this national recognition.”
This is the 12th year for the program honouring the best places to work in trucking and logistics in Canada and recognizing excellence in Human Resource practices in the sector.
THRC recognizes four fleets each year as best in their class. This year’s Top Fleet award winners are:
- Top Small: Classic Freight Transport (NS)
- Top Medium: Whitecourt Transport Inc. (AB)
- Top Large: Challenger Motor Freight (ON)
- Top Private/Fleet Services: Parkland Corporation (AB)
Nine firms received Achievement of Excellence Awards highlighting leadership in specific HR categories:
- Community Engagement: JD Smith Supply Chain Solutions (ON)
- Employee Engagement: Polaris Transportation Group (ON)
- HR Innovator: Joseph Haulage Canada Corp. (ON)
- HR Leadership: XTL Transport Inc. (ON)
- Training & Skills Development: Bison Transport (MB)
- Women in the Workplace: RST and Sunbury Transport (NB)
- Workplace Culture: Big Freight Systems Inc. (MB)
- Workplace Diversity & Inclusion: Bison Transport (MB)
- Workplace Wellness & Mental Health: Arrow Transportation Systems Inc.(BC)
In a special presentation, Stephen Fletcher, Chief Human Resources Officer, Canada Cartage (Ontario) was recognized as HR Leader of the Year. This award celebrates a human resource professional who exemplifies human resources practices within their organization and is a role model to others. Fletcher’s colleagues highlighted his transformational leadership skills; his ability to nurture a culture of growth, wellness, and inclusion; and creativity in recruitment programs as some of the reasons for his nomination.
Past HR Leader of the Year recipients: Colleen Tesarski, Steve’s Livestock Transport (2024); Dave Dietrich, The Erb Group (2023); Stacey Miller, RST Sunbury Transport (2022); Heather Mewhinney, Kriska Holdings Ltd. (2021);Rosana Preston, Rosedale Transport (2020); Denise McJannet, Caron Transportation Systems (2019); Geoff Topping, Challenger Motor Freight (2018); Brenda Cuthbert, Siemens Transportation Group Inc. (2017); and Ken Cross, SLH Transport Inc. (2016).
Special recognition was also given to employers that reached 10-year TFE milestones: Arnold Bros. Transport Ltd., Brian Kurtz Trucking Ltd., Canaan Shipping Co. Ltd., Canada Cartage Systems Ltd., J&R Hall Transport Inc., Joseph Haulage Canada Corp., KAG Canada, Midland Transport Ltd., Olymel – Transport Transbo Inc., Rosedale Transport, Steed Standard Transport Limited, Sutco Transportation Specialists, Tandet, and TEN Canada.
The TFE program is a national initiative that recognizes the significance of sound HR policies and practices in trucking and logistics. TFE is not a competition – fleets’ HR practices and initiatives are evaluated to ensure they meet a rigorous standard in multiple criteria. Feedback is also collected from employees, including drivers.
