Top Fleet Employers that meet the highest standards can also earn special recognition with annual Achievement of Excellence Awards. Recipients are announced in mid-October each year at the TFE Awards Gala. All Top Fleet Employers are considered as contenders for awards.

Award categories
HR Leader of the Year
This award celebrates and recognizes a human resource professional who exemplifies human resources practices within their organization. The award is presented annually to an individual who serves as an effective role model for other HR professionals in the trucking industry.

Achievement of Excellence for Community Engagement
Trucking HR Canada and the Trucks for Change Network worked together to develop this award that recognizes an organization that is a positive and active social force and whose corporate values emphasize partnerships that benefit the community. Fleets are evaluated on their community commitment and evidence of employer-supported outreach work, as well as activities that encourage employees to participate in charitable activities in their communities.

XTL Transport Ltd.
Achievement of Excellence for Employee Engagement
This award is presented annually to a Top Fleet Employer that has demonstrated a formal commitment towards supporting and engaging with their employees. Here, employee surveys often provide information about how an employer is doing, as do management approaches and communication practices. This includes things like open-door policies, staff meetings designed to garner employee feedback, recognition approaches, and more. It is evidenced by a workplace culture that values the opinions of employees, and acts on them.

Steve’s Livestock Transport
Achievement of Excellence for HR Innovator
This award is presented annually to a Top Fleet Employer that has demonstrated a “thinking outside of the box” approach towards their HR initiatives. This means being a forward thinker about elements that may impact their organization, and being able to creatively come up with a beneficial solution. It can be a one-time initiative focused on one aspect of an HR plan, or an ongoing initiative that is unique or industry leading. Whether it is a new technology, or new idea, we want to learn about it.

Achievement of Excellence for HR Leadership
The Award of Excellence in HR Leadership celebrates a Top Fleet Employer of Distinction (at least five years as a TFE) that has consistently maintained high scores overall in established TFE application rating criteria, exemplifying Top Fleet Employer principles. The award recognizes long-term dedication toward HR excellence is presented to an industry leader that represents the best of HR practices worth emulating. Simply put, they put their words into action.

Achievement of Excellence for Training and Skills Development
This award is presented annually to a Top Fleet Employer that has demonstrated a formal commitment to supporting their employees through various professional and skills development, and by fostering a culture focused on continuous and ongoing training and learning. This includes offering career development opportunities and identifying key processes/programs for performance management and training across the entire organization.

Achievement of Excellence for Women in the Workplace
This award is presented annually to a Top Fleet Employer with a demonstrated commitment to overall employee mental health in the workplace. This includes policies and practices that foster an environment where employees feel comfortable talking about mental health, and formal commitments like employee assistance plans, or supported leave provisions for employees in need of support.

Armour Transportation Systems
Achievement of Excellence for Workplace Culture
This award is presented annually to a Top Fleet Employer that has demonstrated a commitment to gender equality and ensuring women are represented and supported within their workplace. This includes things like targeted recruitment approaches designed to appeal to women, onboarding programs to support women drivers, supporting women in seeking coaching and mentoring opportunities, and/or supporting their professional development.

Achievement of Excellence for Workplace Diversity and Inclusion
This award is presented annually to a Top Fleet Employer that has demonstrated a formal commitment towards supporting employees regardless of age, sexual orientation, religion, race, color, gender, national origin, gender identity or expression, disability status, veteran status, or any other status protected by law. This is evidenced through policies and approaches that promote a workplace environment inclusive of women, the needs of younger employees, and other under-represented groups including indigenous peoples, people with disabilities, visible minorities, and new Canadians.
