Ottawa, ON (March 16, 2026) — Trucking HR Canada (THRC) is holding a webinar on March 18 to help employers access funding under its Career ExpressWay initiative. Part of the federal Student Work Placement Program (SWPP), the initiative supports employers with student recruitment and access to financial incentives — up to $5,000 per student. Applications for the program open this week.

Thanks to funding from the Government of Canada, THRC has doubled the number of spots for post-secondary students to gain meaningful, paid work experience in Canada’s trucking and logistics sector. SWPP supports employers by subsidizing the cost of hiring students, while providing students the benefit of practical work experience along with exposure to a variety of career options related to their field of study.

Placements are available across a wide range of occupations within the trucking and logistics sector, including:

  • Human resources and workforce planning
  • Operations and logistics coordination
  • Safety and compliance
  • Information technology and data analytics
  • Finance, administration, and marketing

“This program provides a practical approach to bringing more young people into our workforce by exposing them to the vast array of career opportunities in our sector,” says Angela Splinter, CEO of Trucking HR Canada. “By having secured additional placements, we are helping employers strengthen their talent pipeline while ensuring students gain real-life experience in a sector that plays such a vital role in Canada’s economy.”

Register for the March 18 webinar that takes place at noon ET.
