Women’s Leadership Accord grows to 75 organizations with new Atlantic additions

OTTAWA, ON (October 22, 2026) — Today, Trucking HR Canada (THRC) welcomed three more organizations to the Women’s Leadership Accord in a special ceremony at the Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association (APTA) AGM and conference.

There are now 75 organizations from across Canada committed to creating great workplaces for women and taking concrete action to recruit, retain, and support women, encourage their success, and showcase opportunities in our sector for a fulfilling career.

“Employers across our sector recognize the business value of building workplaces where women can succeed,” says Angela Splinter, President and CEO, Trucking HR Canada. “By joining the Accord, they are demonstrating their desire to take concrete action to expand opportunities for women and strengthen our sector’s workforce.”

“We all know our sector can’t progress without supporting everyone in it,” says Chris McKee, Executive Director, APTA. “By taking action to welcome more women into Atlantic fleets, we’re working together to advance and improve commercial trucking in Atlantic Canada. We appreciate Trucking HR Canada’s efforts to encourage fleets across the country to join the Accord.”

Organizations that joined the Accord on October 22:

  • GTL Transportation Inc.
  • Lighthouse Transportation Inc.
  • Midland Transport Ltd.

They join six other Accord holders based in the Atlantic provinces:

  • Armour Transportation Systems
  • Classic Freight Transport
  • Eassons Transportation Group
  • Seaboard Transport Group
  • Shoreland Transport
  • Sunbury RST

The Women’s Leadership Accord was launched by THRC in 2025. Recognition ceremonies have been held at events across the country to recognize organizations committing to meeting the program’s four pillars: gender equity, inclusivity, safety, and empowerment. Organizations can earn a Certificate of Excellence by demonstrating what they already have in place in the areas of leadership, attraction and recruitment, retention, health and safety, and community engagement.
