Launched in 2014 and open to fleets of every type and size, the Top Fleet Employers Program continues to grow each year. The program is open to fleets of all sizes, and in every region of the country. Small, medium, or large. For-hire, Private Fleets and Fleet Services. Fleet employers apply and participate in a rigorous three-part review of their human resources policies and programs. The review assesses the scope of an employer’s formal HR policies and programs in nine key categories: recruitment & retention, employee engagement, workplace culture, compensation & total rewards, workplace wellness & mental health, workplace diversity & inclusion, training & skills development, corporate citizenship & environment, and HR innovation.
In addition to a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP), a panel of trucking and logistics industry experts have validated the Top Fleet Employer Program’s rating criteria. The rating criteria reflect Canadian human resources issues, trends and working environments, and Trucking HR Canada’s standards of excellence.
Application Process
Step 1: The first step is to set up an organizational account, complete the questions about your company, and submit your profile for review. Once your account has been reviewed you will be given access to your application and payment options. Payment levels are based on the size of your fleet.
Step 2: The application opens in August/September and runs until the end of January. The TFE application is completed online through our Top Fleet Employers Portal. The online process allows you to complete the application in multiple sessions, saving as you go. Electronic attachments of evidence can be uploaded directly to the application. As you go through the online submission, please answer each question carefully, and to the best of your knowledge.
For returning fleets, your answers from your previous application will be pre-loaded into your current application. Please carefully check over your answers as many questions have changed.
Step 3: Once the online applications have been submitted, the TFE review committee creates a shortlist of companies that meet the benchmarks of the program. We will then ask fleets who have not completed an employee survey in the last 2 years to complete our survey provided to them.
We announce the year’s Top Fleet Employers at the beginning of April.
